PIT Boys Smash it on Home Turf

On Sunday the 25th Of August, PIT played host to several clubs around Melbourne and country Victoria at the annual PIT Invitational. It’s always an exciting event for the PIT boys where they can compete on home turf. It was also the first competition for the up and coming level 1’s who have only been training artistic since the start of the year.

First up in Session 1 were the Level 1’s with Anthony & Tom and the Level 2’s with Dani and Emily. All the boys were looking schmick with their stylish hair-dos and their new tracksuits with some feeling excited while other a bit nervous. As warm-up commenced, the nerves subsided and the boys kicked into gear ready for the first rotation.

It’s always very exciting to see the new generation of Level 1’s coming through at competitions, I was very impressed by the manner the boys presented themselves during routines. All the boys showed class and poise and didn’t seem to have many brain fades when it was time to present their routines. Some highlights included Ryan taking out first place All-Around (AA) with some excellent landings, Max in second AA displaying some powerful swings on H-bar and Aiden rounding up the top three in AA with a tight Rings routine. Harley showed some class picking up medals on Floor and Rings while Jett nailed his Floor picking up the gold. Ethen impressed on Vault and H-bar while Cruz got his top score on P-bars with a classy routine. Zach and Jarvis got in on the action claiming first on H-bar and Pommel respectively.

Over to the Level 2 Under’s where Ilia continued to impress in his first competition season claiming first AA with a competition high 9.85 out of 10 on H-bar! Liam was close on his tail claiming the silver in the AA event along with second placings on Floor, Pommel and H-bar. Noah was only a painstakingly 0.2 from third AA displaying a consistent competition claiming fifth while Adel gave Ilia a run for his money on Rings placing second. In the Open division, Dominic came out with a bang picking up his first AA gold medal. He also won Pommel, Rings and H-bar with some classy routines. Luciano also added to the tally with a couple of bronze medals on Floor and Pommel, nice work Lucc!

Next up in the afternoon we had the Level 3 & 4’s take to the floor in a large session where concentration would be the key. Finn in the 3U category demonstrated some solid routines in the back half of the comp claiming gold, silver and bronze on Rings, Vault and P-bars respectively. His 9.7 on Rings was exceptional showing some tight swings. In the 3O division Ali wowed the crowed with a gold medal on H-bar and a third on Rings with some tight lines and excellent body shape. Thomas continued his form on Vault picking up fourth with some nice height in his dive roll while Henry improved on his routines showing some nice swings on Rings.

Moving onto the 4U’s with Adam showing off his swing technique to claim the gold on Rings and second AA. He also connected his kip and stalder to pick up first on H-bar. Jamil went big on P-bar just over swinging his handstand on P-bars to pick up fourth alongside a fourth AA. Daniel picked up a couple of medals on Pommels and Rings with some consistent routines. In 4O, Joshy worked hard for a pair of silver medals only a couple of points behind first place on Rings and Vault – placing fifth AA.

Well done to all the PIT boys and their coaches on a successful home competition. Next stop is the Victorian Championship Trials, Good luck!
