A strong start to the season for The PIT Boys

March 19, 2018

HPC INVITE

The MAG level 6 and 7’s had a great start to their competition season at the High Performance Centre. The level 6 opens were all really excited to show off their brand new optional routines, which allowed them to work to their strengths. For all of the boys, their aim was to pass their LAT, which many of them did achieve. Special mention the Callum who finished 2nd Overall and Newman who finished 3rd. All of the boys gave it their all and our team took away the All Around first place team. Congratulations to all the boys on their efforts and an inspiring start to 2018.

Next up was the level 7’s. Thomas competing in open division and Joseph in the under division for the first time. They both tackled their new skills like champs and gave it their all. Thomas received his LAT and finished 4thOverall and Joseph competed many high level skills for the first time at a great standard, showing great potential for the competitions to come.

All the boys are now training hard to increase the quality of their routines for next weeks invitational at BTYC.

BTYC INVITE

This was the MAG level 6 and 7’s second competition of the year. A chance to improve on the week prior and for some, to compete some more difficult skills added to their routines.  The early morning session saw the level 6 Open’s take to the floor with determination and excitement. Newman had a very consistent competition and came 3rd Overall in a large, talented field of 6 Opens.

The next session hosted the level 7’s: Thomas, Joseph and Liam.  Thomas had a bit of a shaky start but pulled it all together to finish in the top 5 and placed 2nd on P-bars.  Joseph nailed some new skills in which he was competing for the first time and finished up with a 2nd place on Floor against some tough competition.  Liam did very well in his first competition in over a year due to injury and secured a 2nd place on Vault, proving to be a top contender on this apparatus.

All the boys are now looking forwards to cleaning up their existing routines and potentially adding in some more exciting skills for the upcoming Trials for the Victorian Championships and some for Nationals.
