PIT A PATS is a Kindergym program designed by the coaches at PIT Gymnastics to cater for the needs of 2-4 year old boys and girls. The program is run by experienced, qualified coaches who have accreditation with Gymnastics Australia.

To young children, our gym is like a huge indoor adventure playground! It is permanently set up and safe, with multiple sets of bars, beams, rings, tramps, an enormous variety of assorted shaped mats plus soft shapes to add colour and interest. One of the most exciting places in the gym is the trampoline leading into the pit full of soft foam blocks! Equipment is either modified to suit little hands and feet, or lowered to the ground for safety reasons.

  • The Themed Program and equipment layout is changed every 2 weeks to challenge and stimulate the imagination of young children.
  • It is a parent/carer participation program with the key role of the coach being to teach and demonstrate the activities, but with the parents actively participating in helping their child, eg. holding a hand on the beam, repeating instructions, giving praise. Apart from the benefits of receiving individual attention, children of this age love having their Mum or Dad join in – we know that this is important, so we make it fun for the grown-up’s too!
  • Class sizes consist of 1 coach teaching 12 PIT-a-PATS

The class involves:

  • Gross motor skills such as swinging, springing, rocking, rolling, jumping and landing
  • Fine motor skills
  • Cross patterning

The benefits are:

  • balance
  • co-ordination
  • strength
  • locomotion

PIT A PATS is based on a 50 minute class where the emphasis is on having fun with a parent or carer, whilst at the same time improving body control through movement experiences relevant to their development.
