WAG re-cap - Danielle Quinlan

For some Gymnasts, it was their first year competing at a State Championship event and for many gymnasts, this was their first opportunity to compete interstate. Excitement was at an all-time high when we attended podium training on Friday afternoon. This podium training session allowed for the Gymnasts to test out the equipment ahead of the competition and they were thrilled to discover that due to the gymnastics floor being placed on top of a basketball court, the floor wa...

On a cold Sunday morning the level 1's boys had their first competition in gymnastics at the PIT Invitational.  These boys train twice a week for two hours and are aged between 6 and 7. In the weeks prior to the PIT Invite, the boys had been training especially hard on each of the apparatuses.

On the morning of the competition the boys seemed very excited and nervous, but once the comp had started the nerves started to settle and they felt right at h...

Balance Invitational

Extremely early on Sunday morning the 5th August, the level 2 girls were eager and energetic to compete for the second time at Balance Gymnastics. After competing so well at EKGA two weeks prior, the girls were keen to show off their best skills yet again. Despite the early morning, all girls were focussed and poised. Their competition started well with some excellent improvements in their straight jumps on Vault and beautiful shapes on Bars. Their fantastic routines continued from...

A cold morning, no light and not a car on the road; sounds like a day trip to Mt Buller! But it wasn't, instead it was the first competition of the year for the Junior PIT boys at Grips Gymnastics Club. With the coffee in the thermos and the heater on full blast the boys made the trek out to Ringwood for their 7am start.

Session 1 was represented by Adele (Level 1), Finn, Dominic and Luciano (level 2). This was Adele’s first ever competition but he was as cool as a cucumber to collect 1st on Vault and an...

First competitions are always nerve racking for gymnasts and the Niddrie Invitational was no different. This was the first competition for all of our Level 3-6 gymnasts, with each and everyone one of our girls doing an amazing job!

First up were our Limited Level 4 girls. These girls had awesome Floor routines with powerful tumbles and beautiful dance. While there may have been a few nervous moments, each gymnast worked really hard to show off each of their routines. All the girls have been working...

The highly anticipated PIT WAG Club Championships, held over the weekend was an opportunity for many of the WAG gymnasts to compete their routines for the first time this year. For the Level 7 and 8 gymnasts however, the Club Championships are held in the middle of their competition season and allow the girls to inspire the younger gymnasts with the skills they have worked so hard to achieve. The new senior competition leotard had been debuted by the Level 7 and 8 Gymnasts earlier in their competition s...

PIT MAG Seniors

On the last weekend of April, the Senior PIT Boys had their penultimate  comp of the year: The State Championships. For the first time ever it was held down at MSAC in Albert Park. (For future reference make sure you leave an extra 15 minutes earlier and park out on the main road where it’s free!)

First up on Friday night was Joey (L7U) Ben (L10) & Myself (L10) alongside Drew (L10), Ethan (Snr), Dylan & Adam (U17 L9) and Julian (U15 L9) who represent PIT but train at the High Pe...

WAG Trial 3 - Rebecca McConnell

With Trial 3 being a new addition to the WAG State Team selection process, this year’s qualifiers being Emily (level 8) and myself (level 10) approached this competition feeling sore but ready to produce our very best we had to the judges.

The competition came to a slow start with Emily unfortunately injuring herself in warm up which resulted in her having to pull out of Floor and Vault. As heart breaking as this was to her and everyone involved in her progress, Emily stil...

PIT Gymnastics will be sending a group of gymnasts to the 2019 world Gymnaestrada in Dornbirn Austria. This is an amazing event that PIT has been represented at for the last 20 years. It is held every 4 years in a different European country.

It’s not a competition, there are no winners or losers. It’s an opportunity for gymnasts and parents to share an amazing gymnastic cultural experience together. There are no requirements in regard to age and experience. A love of gymnastics and the excitement of perf...

WAG Trial 2 - MYC Gymnastics Club

Sunday was Bec McConnell’s day for Trial 2. Her competition was at Mornington Youth Club at 4pm. The drive down was uneventful but as we entered the gym the fire alarm went off and we were all evacuated. Apparently, something was not cooking so well in the kitchen!

After five minutes we were all ushered back in and got warm up started. Bec had a good day where she stuck 4/4 routines, ‘no falls’...
